The GFN Young Investigator Award was presented to Leon Kośmider, from Institute of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health in Sosnowiec, Poland, for his research on the contents of nicotine fluids. The Award was presented by Prof. Gerry. V. Stimson, and Prof. Andrzej Sobczak.

Leon Kośmider is a pharmacist and a PhD student at the Department of Pharmacy in the Laboratory Medicine Unit of the Silesian University. Mr Kośmider's research has been focusing on the analysis of tobacco smoke, risks associated with using traditional cigarettes and e-cigarettes, and the toxicity of smoke and aerosol. He is an author or co-author of 40 academic conference speeches and 14 publications.
