General travel tips when travelling to Poland

Currency and Currency Exchanges
The zloty is the Polish unit of currency. As there are usually long waits at banks, currency exchanges, or (kantor), are ideal for changing dollars or euros into zloty. ATMs are also plentiful and will allow you to withdraw zloty with your credit or debit card.
Using Credit Cards and Travelers' Cheques in Poland
Higher quality restaurants, hotels, and shops will accept widely recognized credit cards (Visa, American Express, JCB, Eurocard, and Mastercard), though it is good to have cash in reserve for minor transactions. Travelers' cheques are widely accepted in Poland, though they can only be exchanged for zloty at banks.
Electricity
Poland uses European continental plugs (two-pin, 230 volts).
Weather
Temperatures in June range between 10 – 25 centigrades. On average the weather is sunny, temporary rains are possible.
Safety
Despite being the largest cities of Poland, Warsaw is still very safe and crime rate is relatively lower than other famous cities in Europe. Still it is always good to keep valuable items, credit cards and extra cash out of sight. It is also advisable to be aware of pick-pockets usually in crowded areas or at famous tourist sites.
Tipping etiquette
In Warsaw, service charges are usually not added to the bills of restaurants or hotels. For groups of 4 and more service charge may however be automatically added (note on the bottom of the bill). Tipping is always accepted to appreciate good service or food. The average tip will be around 10-15 % or just round up the bill to a whole number. It is not obligatory to give a tip to the taxi drivers.
