And the 2019/2020 winners are...

All conference participants, who completed the on-line feedback form after the 2019 event, took part in a draw of three free places for the GFN 2020. One of the lucky winners of the draw this year is professor Arise Garcia from Brazil.

Arise kindly agreed to answer a couple of questions about herself and her professional interests.

GFN: Please tell us a bit about yourself. What is your area of work?

AG: I am Cardiologist, Health Professional and Professor at the Medical School at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora/ Brazil. I have a doctorate in Health, with the majority of experience in chronic diseases, such as: hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, heart failure and smo

GFN: How did you hear about GFN? What made you decide to attend GFN 2019 and I hope next year?

AG: I was looking for International Congresses about Tobacco Use. I decided to attend GNF 2019, because the theme of the congress was about damage reduction in the smoker population. Next year, I hope to gain more knowledge about the nicotine harm reduction and others topics.
GFN: How did you get interested in nicotine harm reduction, new nicotine products, or related topics? What is your area of particular interest?
AG: I have working with tobacco cessation in the Brazilian population with multiple chronic conditions, since 2004. In this population with high cardiovascular risk, it is very important to reduce the rate of smoking cessation. For me, having acess to create the ability of new products, new ideas about reduction or smoking cessation can be very relevant.
GFN: Do you have some personal ideas, remarks about next GFN?
AG: I would like to have some symposiums or forums into GFN about smoking cessation in the special populations, for exemple, populations with multiple chronic conditions that don't have adequate care yet, because of professionals inadequacy and not providing the proper education to the patients.

GFN: Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, and we're looking forward to seeing you at GFN 2020 in Warsaw!

On June 15, 2020, we will open a feedback form for the #GFN20 conference, and from among those who provide us with feedback, we will draw new winners who will get free passes for the GFN 2021.
