All conference participants, who completed the on-line feedback form after the 2015 event, took part in a draw of free place for the GFN 2016. A lucky winner of the draw for this year is Piotr, a professor and a teacher from Lublin in Poland. Piotr kindly agreed to answer a couple of questions about himself, and his professional interests.
GFN: please tell us a bit about yourself. What is your area of work?
Piotr: I work at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. I teach Public Administration and Administrative Law. I'm interested in how the state influences its citizens and how they influence the state - so I try to look at public affairs from many perspectives, using not only legal, but also sociological and philosophical approach.
GFN: how did you hear about GFN? What made you decide to attend GFN 2015?
Piotr: It was a stroke of luck, actually. I was searching for information about e-cigarettes, and it turned out that there is a conference on this subject in Warsaw. I've learned about it just a few days before the deadline for registration.
GFN: how did you get interested in nicotine harm reduction, new nicotine products, or related topics? What is your area of particular interest?
Piotr: I wrote my PhD thesis on Nicotine addiction prevention and my MA thesis about the ban of tobacco advertising. I am searching for a compromise in the field of smoking - I think that smokers have the right to smoke, and those who don't smoke have the right not to smoke even passively.
GFN: do you have some personal ideas, remarks about next GFN? What would you most like to see/hear about at GFN2016?
Piotr: Current issues are always interesting, it's great to hear the latest news and discoveries. I would like to hear especially about various public policies on new nicotine products.
GFN: Thank you for taking time to chat with us, and we're looking forward to seeing you at GFN 2016 in Warsaw!
