Understanding Vaping: some fundamental questions

This free to attend dialogue, hosted by the Irish Vape Vendors Association, took place from 1400-1700, on Tuesday 24th October, at the O’Callaghan Davenport Hotel, 8-10 Merrion Street Lower, Dublin 2.

Gillian Eva Golden comes from a background in the creative, customer service, and retail sectors. A former smoker thanks to discovering vaping in 2012, she now works as administrator for the Irish Vape Vendors Association, Ireland's only trade association for independently owned, specialised retailers of vaping products. She not only advocates for vaping as a means of tobacco harm reduction, but also for industry stewardship, and sits on the Technical Committee of CEN TC 437 for electronic cigarettes and e-liquids.
Professor David Sweanor
David Sweanor is an adjunct professor, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa, Centre for Health Law, Policy & Ethics, University of Ottawa and a honorary (consultant) assistant professor, University of Nottingham. He has been actively involved in tobacco and health policy issues since the beginning of the 1980s. He has worked with numerous organisations, including the International Union Against Cancer, World Health Organization, World Bank and the Pan American Health Organization, and currently focuses much of his efforts on risk reduction strategies. He has received both international recognition and prestigious prizes for his work.

Dr Rowley is a Consultant Physician in Genito-Urinary (Sexual Health) Medicine. He graduated from Trinity College in 2001, qualifying first as a General Practitioner before completing specialist training in St. James’s Hospital in Genitourinary Medicine. He was appointed Consultant in Genito-Urinary and HIV Medicine at St James’s Hospital in 2015 and is attached to the GUIDe clinic. Dr Rowley is a member of both the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. He is passionate about promoting sexual health for his patients through increased clinical access, and education and is a strong advocate for more widespread HIV and sexual health testing. Along with HIV and sexual health, Dr Rowley has a special interest in Androgen deficiency, Erectile and Sexual Dysfunction, post-Prostatectomy and lower genital tract symptoms and is currently carrying out research in the area of HIV and Syphilis infection in Europe. He has presented his research nationally and internationally and has published in peer reviewed journals in the areas of HIV, Palliative Medicine and STI’s.
Martin Dockrell
Public Health England, UK
Martin Dockrell has been involved in public health since the mid 1980's. He started in community based responses to HIV/AIDS and moved through respiratory health and patient advocacy to tobacco control. He is former Director of Policy & Research at Action on Smoking and Health.
