Dr Karl Fagerström , Smokers Information Center, Sweden

Karl is a licensed clinical psychologist with a PhD on nicotine dependence and smoking cessation, who started a smoking cessation clinic in 1975 and invented the Fagerstrom Test for Cigarette Dependence. In the 70s and 80s he served as the editor – in – chief for the Scandinavian Journal for Behaviour Therapy. Currently he works with his own private consultancy (Fagerstrom Consulting). He is a founding member of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco and currently a Deputy Editor of the Nicotine & Tobacco Research. He started the European SRNT affiliate in 1999. His main research contributions have been in the fields of Behaviour Medicine, Tobacco and Nicotine with over 160 peer reviewed publications of which he is the first author of 95.
The current main interest is on reducing harm and exposure to tobacco toxins. He was awarded the WHO medal 1999 for outstanding work in tobacco control and is the recipient of the 2013 Award on Clinical Science from the Society for Research on Tobacco and Nicotine.

A Billion Lives!

We are delighted to announce that there will be a special showing of this landmark documentary for delegates attending GFN 2016! This will take place on Thursday 16 June, prior to the conference social event. More details regarding the time and venue will be announced shortly.

The film will be introduced by Aaron Biebert, the Director, who will also take part in a short Q&A session after the screening. All delegates attending will receive a ticket for the screening and an invitation to the conference social event immediately afterwards.
